Web Platform Announcement Graphic

This article covers the following topics:

Overview of the Changes

As part of our migration from basic pages to pages, we temporarily allowed HTML to be embedded in the text editor (WYSIWYG). We are removing the ability to embed HTML for several reasons that include ensuring accessibility and preventing users from inadvertently creating vulnerabilities to the site.

You will continue to be able to switch to the source view and add basic HTML. If a user adds and saves HTML that is not allowed, the Web Platform will automatically remove the unsupported HTML.

When the Changes will Occur

This new functionality will be available as soon as the Web Platform 2.0 updates are applied to your site.

What’s Changing

  1. Text editor (WYSIWYG) will only accept basic HTML. Below is a list of HTML the site will accept:

    • Lead text
    • Button (Primary)
    • Button (Secondary)
    • Link (Download)
    • Link (External)
    • Link (Anchor)
    • List (Links)

  2. You will no longer be able to embed a widget or HTML in the default text editor (WYSIWYG).

  3. Note: The following applies only to site owners and above:
    • By switching the text editor (WYSIWYG) to full HTML, you are able to add HTML code.
    • This must be done with approved HTML only.
    • Any HTML added must be accessible and meet the AA standards, as well as industry standards and not affect any other part of the site.
    • Submit a General Support Request to have your HTML reviewed.
    • Access to add HTML may be removed if the above requirements are not met.

Text Editor (WYSIWYG) Components with HTML that is No Longer Supported

If you have a text editor (WYSIWYG) component with HTML that is no longer supported, it will continue to work. When you next update the text editor (WYSIWYG) component, the HTML will be removed automatically. If this happens, we recommend that you go to the test site, review the layout of the content and use the appropriate components to recreate the old layout.
