Localist: The Basics

Localist is the DGSOM's solution for managing events. DGSOM and UCLA Health have partnered with Localist to provide a robust and feature-rich option for displaying upcoming events. Localist provides a visually appealing event platform that is easy for everyone to use. Some of the benefits of Localist include:

  • Branded templates 
  • Host all your events in one place (virtual and in-person)  
  • Increase attendance (e.g. Using Localist, the University of Louisville saw an increase in its summer event series attendance by 233%)

Event Submission

Guidelines for Regular Users 

Virtual Events: It is important to set up your Zoom meetings in a way that users are expecting and that allows you to easily manage your attendees automatically.  

  1. Sign in to the Zoom web portal.
  2. In the navigation menu, click Meetings.
  3. Click Schedule a Meeting or edit an existing meeting.
  4. In the Registration section, make sure to select the Required check box.
  5. After scheduling the meeting, the Registration and Branding tabs will appear.
  6. Manage attendees: Click View to see a list of people who have registered for the meeting. Clicking on the registrant's name will provide additional info about that person.

  • From the DGSOM Event Calendar, click on the Submit an Event button in the top right corner. 
  • Enter your Mednet credentials to log in. 
  • Fill out the Public Event Submission Form. 
    • Event Details: Add your event title and a short description of your event. Do not include the date, location, or registration information in this section. 
    • Schedule: Enter the date and time of your event. Add multiple dates and times if the event is part of a series.
    • Location: For the Experience, select in-person, virtual, or hybrid event. For the Event Place, tag the place if applicable.
    • Photo: Upload an image or select an image from our photo library. If you do not upload a photo, a default image will appear. If you upload an image, it must not have any text in the image. Recommended dimensions are 940 x 557 px.
    • Filters: Please ensure you select the correct filter as this will define what pages your event will display on. 
    • Ticketing: Deselect “Use Localist Register” and add your registration URL (highly recommended for virtual events).
  • Click Submit Pending button.
