- You may only upload PDFs that are legally or contractually required
Images
- Do not use images that contain mostly text, tables, or QR codes

- Charts and graphs must include alt text, captions, and descriptions
Videos & Multimedia
- Must come from approved UCLA accounts or have written approval
- Require captions and transcripts to be reviewed by a person
Site Structure & Navigation
- Pages must appear in the main or left-hand navigation menu (unless approved otherwise)
- Use headings in proper order (no skipping levels), followed by relevant content
- Use headings in proper order (H1, H2, H3, H4) followed by relevant content
- Because the page title is automatically an H1, all headings should begin with an H2 and follow the proper order.
- There must be body content in between headers.
- The Accessibility Checker will flag any issues with headings.
Links & Contact Information
- All internal links work and added correctly (link by typing the page name and selecting it from the dropdown, rather than adding the full URL).
- External links open correctly
- Use clear, descriptive link and button text. Avoid vague phrases like “Click here” or “Learn more”.
- Limit the use of “mailto:” links; instead, use contact forms or email aliases when possible. If you include “mailto:” links, ensure they display the name of the person or organization rather than formatting the address as “name [at] domain [dot] com.”
- Phone links must follow this format: tel:+[country code][number]
- Do not use full URLs as visible text
- When submitting your launch request, include any URLs you want added to the footer (e.g., links to relevant departments or partner institutions).
Profiles
- Make sure there are profiles for each individual team member
- Use placeholder image if the person doesn't have a profile picture
Forms & Data Collection
- Approved tools: UCLA Health-approved Qualtrics only
- Prohibited tools: Unapproved third-party forms or embeds without written approval
SEO & Meta Descriptions
- All pages have unique meta descriptions (155 characters or less).
- Meta descriptions accurately summarize page content.
